Alonso Cueto was was born in 1954 in Lima. During his childhood and youth he lived alternatively in Paris, Washington, Lima, Madrid and Austin, Texas, where he received y PHD with a thesis about the stories of Juan Carlos Onetti. He is the author of eighteen books including novels, short stories and essays. He was awarded the Herralde Prize for novel in Barcelona in 2005 for my novel The Blue Hour. He is also a Guggenheim fellow. He currently lives in Lima and works as a professor at la Universidad Catolica.
